  • Types of AMD: There are two forms of AMD: dry (atrophic) and wet (neovascular). Dry ARMD progresses slowly and is more common, while wet AMD is less common but causes rapid and severe vision loss.

  • Symptoms: Early signs of AMD include blurred vision, difficulty reading, and dark or empty spots in the center of your vision. As the disease progresses, these symptoms can become more pronounced.

  • Risk Factors: Risk factors for AMD include age (50 and older), family history, smoking, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, obesity, and prolonged sun exposure without eye protection.

  • Prevention and Management: While there is no cure for AMD, lifestyle changes can help manage the condition. These include eating a healthy diet rich in

  • leafy greens and fish, quitting smoking, maintaining healthy blood pressure and cholesterol levels, and wearing sunglasses to protect your eyes from UV rays. Regular eye exams are crucial for early detection and treatment to help preserve vision.
